I bought a new PC recently. It run on Windows. I was shocked by how much Microsoft is now looking like Google, i.e. they want spy on you and get everything about your “machine”. Before I can even turn my computer on, I was led through a screen after screen and my options were in most cases to agree or agree, if I do not, I cannot proceed to the next page and cannot use my computer. That is the same model that Google started with their tablets and now “books”. If you do not “log on” you cannot proceed. All this talk about privacy and companies give a damn about you, is ridiculous. Soon, you will not be able to be a part of society unless you are total exposed. Then, just like the credit score companies who loose your data all the time, they will turn around and offer you an “identity protection” product, of a “small fee” of course.
Your email is not attached to your computer. They email utility the gave you for free (the only thing from Microsoft that came with Window 10 free) is to make sure you broadcast your IP wherever and whenever you log on. The rest of the gadget that used to be part of Windows, like office for example, are not subscription based. That is the new “service economy”. So, you buy your computer for $1000 and then you spend another $50 or so a month on crap they force you to have, Antivirus, about $10, Microsoft $10, PDF editor, … etc. The idea is clear. The solution is clear, community based codes and open source tools.
