Deep Water Drillers

By | November 23, 2018

Next to shale oil, the deep drillers are probably the most impacted by oil prices. Although the deep drillers work off preset price, but investment in deep water is impacted by the projection of oil prices.

The numbers of the break even points are so shaky that I do not really believe most of them. I think there is at least 20% error bar in all and on top of that 20-30% variation based on company, age, location, etc.  Here is yet another chart of what is the break point is (source).

Schlumberger, Royal Dutch Shell, BP and Equinor (Norway) are the largest deep water drillers.

Here is some of the drillers that have been biting the dust since 2015, SDRL, DO, ESV, RIG and NE. They have declined drastically since 2015 when the oil originally started slumping.
