Carl Marx talked a great deal bout the importance of owning the production tool for any society, socially governed society that is. However, as times change, the emphasis is no longer on the production tool, but rather it has to be broaden to become “wealth acquisition and redistribution mechanism”.
In today’s society as services becoming a much large portion of the economy, the BS part of that is also a large portion of service. Take for example the celebrities that are being build up daily. There job is to turn a $10 pair of shoes to $200 pair by having a commercial for it or buy wearing it here and there. There is absolutely no “mehr wert” yet you will see a lot of idiots out there who will rush to buy the shoe, most of them are poor and broke.
You can think of basket ball player or movie star is a production tool for the owners, but still, there was more money made but no value added and no “production”. So the player help take the money from A and give it to B. The player probably got handsome cut out of that transaction. As a result someone lost a lot of money and left with a pair of shoes like most others. This is a perfect example of “controlling the media” to achieve prosperity for some but not the others.
So, you do not really need to add value to create wealth, you can just create wealth by re-distribution process or by imposing a huge intangible value on your product to extract way more from it than it is fair value.
